Loan calculator
Work out the monthly cost, effective rate and total. You enter the rate and fees, the calculator does the rest.

How the monthly cost is worked out
The calculator uses an annuity: the same amount every month, large enough for the loan to be repaid when the term ends. The interest for a month is the yearly rate divided by twelve, charged on what you still owe.
On SEK 100,000 at 8.90% over 5 years, the payment is SEK 2,071 plus the notice fee. In the first month SEK 742 of it is interest and SEK 1,329 is amortisation. Every month the interest part gets smaller and the amortisation larger.
The effective rate includes the setup fee and the notice fees. With a SEK 500 setup fee and SEK 25 a month, 8.90% nominal becomes 10.06% effective on SEK 100,000 over 5 years.
Annuity loan or straight amortisation
With an annuity loan (annuitetslån) you pay the same amount every month. With straight amortisation (rak amortering) you pay off the same amount of the loan every month, plus interest on what is left. You then pay more at the start and less towards the end.
Borrow SEK 150,000 over 10 years with straight amortisation and you pay off SEK 1,250 every month. In the first month SEK 1,113 of interest is added, SEK 2,363 in all. With an annuity the payment is SEK 1,892 every month.
Straight amortisation costs SEK 9,737 less in interest, because the debt falls faster at the start. With an annuity, on the other hand, the payment is lower for the first 51 months.
The calculator above and the loans in our comparison are calculated as annuities.
SEK 150,000 over 10 years, 8.90% nominal rate, no fees.
| Payment | Annuity | Straight amortisation |
|---|---|---|
| First month | SEK 1,892 | SEK 2,363 |
| Last month | SEK 1,892 | SEK 1,259 |
| Total interest | SEK 77,043 | SEK 67,306 |
| Total to repay | SEK 227,043 | SEK 217,306 |
How the term changes the cost
The table shows the same loan over four terms. Going from 5 years to 10 years lowers the monthly cost by SEK 1,214, but you repay SEK 42,154 more in total.
Most of the difference is interest, because you pay interest on the debt for more months. The fees grow too: the notice fee is paid every month, so over 15 years the fees come to SEK 5,000, against SEK 1,400 over 3 years.
SEK 150,000, 8.90% nominal rate, setup fee SEK 500, notice fee SEK 25/month.
| Term | Per month | Interest | Fees | Total |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| 3 years | SEK 4,788 | SEK 21,467 | SEK 1,400 | SEK 172,867 |
| 5 years | SEK 3,131 | SEK 36,389 | SEK 2,000 | SEK 188,389 |
| 10 years | SEK 1,917 | SEK 77,043 | SEK 3,500 | SEK 230,543 |
| 15 years | SEK 1,537 | SEK 122,248 | SEK 5,000 | SEK 277,248 |
Common questions about the calculator
Does the calculator include the fees?
Yes, the fees you enter. The notice fee is part of the monthly cost, and the setup fee is counted as paid with the first payment and shows in the total. The effective rate is calculated the way lenders must calculate it under the Swedish Consumer Credit Act.
What does a SEK 100,000 loan cost?
It depends on the rate, the fees and the term. At 8.90% nominal rate, a SEK 500 setup fee and a SEK 25 notice fee, it comes to SEK 2,096 a month over 5 years. In total you repay SEK 126,259, of which SEK 26,259 is interest and fees. The calculator above starts with this example.
What rate should I use?
Use a higher rate than you hope to get, for example 12 to 15%. The bank does the same when it assesses whether you can carry the loan. In Sweden the nominal rate may not be higher than the reference rate plus 20 percentage points, today 22.00%.
What happens to the monthly cost if the rate goes up?
At a variable rate the rate can change during the loan, and the agreement says how the monthly payment is recalculated. For example, on SEK 150,000 over 5 years the monthly payment is SEK 73 higher at 9.90% than at 8.90%, counted from the start of the loan.
Can I pay extra or repay the loan early?
Yes. You may always repay all or part of an unsecured loan early, and you pay interest only up to that point. At a variable rate the lender may not charge a fee for it. At a fixed rate, interest compensation (ränteskillnadsersättning) may apply.
Is there compound interest on a loan?
Not on an annuity loan paid on time. Each payment covers that month's interest first, so no unpaid interest is added to the debt. Compound interest does show in the effective rate, which converts the monthly rate to a yearly rate: 8.90% becomes 9.27% even without fees.
Does the calculator include the interest deduction (ränteavdrag)?
No, it shows the cost before tax. Interest on unsecured loans gives no deduction from the 2026 income year. On secured loans such as mortgages, the deduction is 30% of the interest up to SEK 100,000 a year and 21% on interest above that.
Is the result a loan offer?
No. The calculator works with the rate and fees you enter. The lender decides which rate you get after a credit assessment. Kreddo is a comparison service and does not lend money.
