How pet insurance works

Vet insurance pays for care when the animal falls ill or is injured, up to the amount you have chosen. At Sveland you choose SEK 40,000, 80,000 or 120,000 for a dog.

The excess is the part you pay yourself. At Sveland it has two parts: a fixed amount and a variable share. For a dog you choose a fixed excess of SEK 1,900, 2,900 or 4,900 and a variable excess of 15 or 25%. You pay the fixed part once per period of 180 days, according to the terms.

Life insurance is an add-on. It can pay out if the animal dies or has to be put down after an illness or accident, and the insured value can be at most the animal's market value.

This is a selection. The terms and pre-purchase information at Sveland take precedence over anything here.

Which animals can I insure with Sveland?

Dogs, cats, horses and small pets. Sveland also has a fosterförsäkring (insurance for an unborn animal).

What is the difference between a fixed and a variable excess?

The fixed excess is an amount in kronor. The variable excess is a percentage of the cost. For Sveland's dog insurance you choose a fixed excess of SEK 1,900, 2,900 or 4,900 and a variable excess of 15 or 25%.

How often do I pay the fixed excess?

With Sveland's dog insurance, once per excess period of 180 days, however many injuries or illnesses it covers, according to the terms.

What does pet insurance cost?

The price is worked out for each animal. Sveland asks for the date of birth, the breed and whether the animal is neutered, among other things, and shows the price on its site. We do not show prices.

Is life insurance included?

Not automatically. At Sveland, life insurance is an add-on, and the insured value can be at most the market value of the animal.
